Library of Congress Classification by Subject

Hege Library, like many academic libraries, uses the Library of Congress Classification system to assign call numbers. This system uses letters and numbers to sort books into subject areas, and each title has its own unique call number. This outline of the Library of Congress Classification can be used to determine where titles in a general subject area may be found in our library. LC has 21 subject areas. Items are shelved by this letter first in alphabetical order.
