Overdue and Replacement Fines

The Library charges $5 per hour overdue fines for digital media including laptops, iPads, and accessories.  It is the patron’s responsibility to note the Library's operating hours and the due date and time for any materials on their account.  Though the Library system sends out automatic email notifications for items coming due, and items that are overdue, the onus is on the patron to adhere to due dates and times.  If the Library is closed on the due date, the item should be returned before the due date in order to avoid fines. You will be notified via email when your item is coming due and when it is overdue. Replacement charges will be added to your account when the item is considered long overdue. Please contact the Library to see if you can still return these items  to clear your account, otherwise you will be billed for the replacement costs. Once the library has ordered a replacement copy, the bill cannot be removed.  

Electronic media  cannot be returned in the book drop; all iPads/laptops/cameras/digital recorders must be checked in at the Desk.  Failure to do so will result in replacement charges for the materials, as they can be significantly damaged and destroyed by the book drop.  

Please note that items that are considered overdue (2-weeks for books, 1 day for digital media) will be subject to a $5.00 overdue fee.  Extremely overdue (1-month for books, and 5 days for digital media) will be subject to a $10.00 overdue fee, per item. 

Replacement costs for damaged or lost items:

  • Books: $30* or replacement copy + $20 processing fee
  • Dell Laptops: $1,000 + $20 processing fee
  • Mac Laptops: $2,000 + $20 processing fee
  • Laptop chargers $50 + $20 processing fee
  • Macbook VGA or HDMI adapters $20 + $20 processing fee
  • Dell charger $50 + $20 processing fee
  • iPads: $500 + $20 processing fee
  • iPad mini: $340 + $20 processing fee
  • iPad cracked screen: $250
  • iPad Accessories: 
    • Replacement power cord or brick $20 + $20 processing fee
    • Replacement cover $40 + $20 processing fee 
    • VGA or HDMI adapters $20 + $20 processing fee
  • Interlibrary loan materials varied according to lender library's policies. Please note that once invoiced by the lender, we cannot remove or reduce the associated bill. 

*This is the default price for replacement items. If the cost of the item exceeds this price, you will be charged the actual replacement cost plus the $20 processing fee. 

The library will accept a replacement copy of an item + a $20 processing fee. Note that the replacement item must be the exact edition of the item being replaced. In the case of technology, only name brand products will be accepted.

The library adds fines to student accounts in banner on a daily basis. Any fine over $10 will result in a hold being placed on your account in banner. 

Please note that all library fines must be paid at Student Financial Services in New Garden Hall. The library does not accept payment for fines.
