Borrower Information

The following individuals can borrow library materials:

  • Currently enrolled Guilford College students
  • Currently employed Guilford College faculty and staff
  • Emeriti faculty and retired staff living in the Greensboro area
  • Faculty and students from the Triad Area Library Association (TALA)
  • Others wishing to use library materials should submit a request through their local library

All borrowers must present a valid Quaker Card at the time of checkout. 

Loan Periods

  • Students may borrow most books for the semester, display and Quaker materials are 30 day loan.
  • Faculty/Staff may borrow books for 1 semester with 2 renewals

Fines & Bills

Patrons are responsible for all items checked out to their accounts and for returning them by the due date. At the time of checkout patrons will receive an email receipt with due date information. Reminder notices will also be sent via email. 

  • If a book is not returned or renewed within 28 days of its due date, the borrower is billed for the cost of the item and a $25 processing fee. The average bill is $50 per item, but may be higher in some rare cases when the item is more expensive to replace.
  • If the billed item is returned or renewed, charges are cleared.
  • Refunds will not be issued for items that must be replaced immediately due to high demand or that are returned more than 2 months after the original billing date.
  • All overdue technology is billed at $5 per hour.
  • Repair and replacement costs for technology vary per item.
  • Overdue and replacement costs for interlibrary loan materials are set by the lending library and vary. 
  • All bills are added to a patron's account in banner and should be paid at the Office of Student Accounts in New Garden Hall. The library does not accept payment for bills.
