An introduction to using the Internet.

The tutorials in this workshop series will introduce you to the different types of search tools that can be used for searching the Internet, briefly describing the advantages and disadvantages of each. You will also learn a little bit about going beyond a basic keyword search, by using special commands and operators in your search query, as well as making use of the special features and functions that individual search tools might offer. You may need to log in using your Guilford network username and password.

The tutorials in this workshop series will take you beyond the techniques and tools discussed in the Searching the Web - Intro Workshop. We will explore advanced search site features, as well as browser-based search tools, social-bookmarking tools, and specialized search sites. A section of the workshop is devoted to strategies used for evaluating Web pages, a valuable 21st century skill that every Web searcher should master.
