Using ArcGIS, you can create and analyze maps to answer a variety of questions. You can associate data points with corresponding attributes and analyze the relationships between spatial information and other data.

QGIS is a free and open source Geographic Information System (GIS) that is an excellent alternative to ArcGIS. You can use it to create, visualize, analyze, and publish geospatial information.
