24/7 Canvas Support

For Canvas Support, use the "Help" link in the left-navigation, in Canvas, to Open a support ticket with Canvas.

Canvas Student App

You can access Canvas from your phones by downloading the Canvas Student App for iOS or Android. If you are using a phone or tablet to access Canvas, it is highly recommended that you download and use the App, instead of using the browser application on your tablet or mobile device, as this can cause issues.

To log in, launch the app, tap "Find my school" and enter Guilford College. Tap "Guilford College" and enter your network username and password. Tap "Login."

For more information about using the Canvas App, visit the Canvas Mobile Guide site and select the correct operating system for your mobile device.

Please note that the App does not provide the full functionality of Canvas accessed from a computer browser: there may be some features that are more limited or unavailable when using the App.

Best Practices for an Optimal Canvas Experience

  • If you are using Canvas on a tablet or mobile device, use the app instead of the browser on your tablet or mobile device!
  • Make sure to keep your computer browser up to date. Supported browsers and browser versions are available in the Canvas Student Guide
  • Do not use Internet Explorer: instead use another browser such as Firefox, Chrome, Safari, or Microsoft Edge.
  • Write all of your assignments, no matter how small, in a word processing tool (like Microsoft Word or Google Docs) and save regularly, to avoid losing your work if Canvas times out.

Supported Browsers

Canvas supports the last two versions of every browser release. We highly recommend updating to the newest version of whatever browser you are using as well as the most up-to-date Flash plug-in (Best Browsers for Canvas).

Restarting Can Resolve Many Canvas Issues

Many Canvas issues can be resolved by clearing your browser cache and history (instructions on how to do this for different browsers are included below) and restarting your browser, and restarting your device if needed. If you experience an unexpected issue, try these steps. If you are not able to resolve the issue, put in a Help Desk ticket at https://webhelpdesk.guilford.edu/ or by emailing its@guilford.edu

Here are instructions on how to clear your browser cache and history, for different browsers:

Possible Issues with Safari

Canvas has identified some possible issues with Safari, such as images in Canvas not loading, and is working on a fix. When experiencing issues while using Safari, specifically, on a computer:

  • try enabling "cross-site tracking" in your Safari cookie preferences under Safari Preferences > Privacy
  • try using a Private window in Safari
  • try using another browser
