This workshop offers a rundown of the basics of Canvas, for new faculty as well as returning faculty who might like a Canvas refresher.
Our Canvas Essentials handout is available at https://bit.ly/2XH00KL. You can view a recording of a virtual "Canvas 101 for Instructors" workshop from August 11, 2020 (Guilford Google log-in required). This workshop was facilitated by Denise Cowardin and Tierney Steelberg of Hege Library & Learning Technologies.
Hoonuit, the online database of training modules to which Guilford College subscribes, also has a quick Canvas Instructor training to help you get started. You can log in to Hoonuit at with your Guilford username and network password - more information on Hoonuit and how to use it in your courses is below. Please put in a Help Desk ticket if you experience any issues.
Additionally, Hoonuit training modules can be embedded in a Canvas course for you to use with your students - see the Resilient Teaching Guide's page on Academic Technologies for more information on how to do this.
We have created a self-paced online Canvas training, which guides instructors through how to use Canvas from within Canvas itself, starting with the basics and moving on to advanced features. Enroll in the training at https://guilfordcollege.
Based on the two-week online course that we have offered in Summer 2020, this self-paced version will provide you with a wealth of information related to online teaching, and will model different online teaching strategies and tools so you can decide what works best as you take your class online. You can work through the modules on your own, as time allows: there are assignments for you to do if you so choose to help you work through the concepts in the course, but you will not need to submit anything. Enroll in the training at https://guilfordcollege.instructure.com/enroll/6PAXP8.
