Canvas for Instructors

This guide provides an overview of Canvas, Guilford College's LMS, for instructors who use it as an online home for their courses.

Canvas Hoonuit Training

Hoonuit, the online database of training modules to which Guilford College subscribes, also has a quick Canvas Instructor training to help you get started. You can log in to Hoonuit at with your Guilford username and network password - more information on Hoonuit and how to use it in your courses is below. Please put in a Help Desk ticket if you experience any issues.

Additionally, Hoonuit training modules can be embedded in a Canvas course for you to use with your students - see the Resilient Teaching Guide's page on Academic Technologies for more information on how to do this.

Self-Paced Canvas Training for Guilford Faculty

We have created a self-paced online Canvas training, which guides instructors through how to use Canvas from within Canvas itself, starting with the basics and moving on to advanced features. Enroll in the training at https://guilfordcollege.instructure.com/enroll/PHRF9N.

Self-Paced Online Teaching Course for Guilford Faculty

Based on the two-week online course that we have offered in Summer 2020, this self-paced version will provide you with a wealth of information related to online teaching, and will model different online teaching strategies and tools so you can decide what works best as you take your class online. You can work through the modules on your own, as time allows: there are assignments for you to do if you so choose to help you work through the concepts in the course, but you will not need to submit anything. Enroll in the training at https://guilfordcollege.instructure.com/enroll/6PAXP8.
