Hege Library & Learning Technologies Resources for Accessible and Inclusive Learning (RAIL) Initiative

RAIL Collection Development Strategy

For developing relevant collections, the emphasis will be on ongoing outreach to and consultation with faculty in identifying and acquiring primary and/or supplemental course materials, materials that faculty feel would be additionally supportive of students enrolled in their courses, and/or materials that faculty feel would be supportive of student research and creative endeavors in an ongoing way. By leveraging resources that are freely available through library collections, barriers of both cost and access may be mitigated. Collection development will specifically focus on:

  • Commitment as a priority to partnership with faculty for investment in digital collections that are supportive of Guilford’s curriculum, to include:

  • eBooks
  • eJournal subscriptions
  • Streaming media

  • Employing as a priority an evidence-based acquisitions approach to building digital collections for ensuring that resources acquired are evidenced by their usage as valuable and relevant to student learning and scholarship.
