Tools for Communicating with your Students

If you need to get information to your students quickly, use any of these tools to get the word out.

Guilford College Email
All students have a Guilford College email address (@guilford.edu) that you can look up in Gmail.
Canvas Announcements
Canvas announcements allow you to communicate with students about course activities and post interesting course-related topics. Announcements are designed to broadcast information out to all members of a course or to all members of sections within a course.
Canvas Inbox
You can use the Canvas inbox to email a message to the entire class at one time. Emails sent from here will appear both in students' Canvas inbox and in their Guilford College email.
Navigate
You can use Navigate to text your students individually, which might sometimes be a better option than email or other online options.

Reminder: you can use Canvas from your computer's web browser, or from a phone or tablet using the Canvas Teacher app, available for Android and iOS devices. Your students can download the Canvas Student app to get Canvas notifications on their phones.

Canvas recommends using an up-to-date browser (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Edge... not Internet Explorer) on a computer, and an up-to-date Canvas app (rather than accessing Canvas through your browser app) on a phone or tablet.
