Trotter’s Creek Particular Meeting

Location: Southeast corner of Guilford County, N.C. 

Timeline: PM under Cane Creek MM by 1825. Laid down 1837 (Weeks). 1852: Deed obtained, land to be sold. 1853: Contract to sell land, reserving the burying ground. 1860: Meetinghouse has been removed (but mentioned again in minutes and sold in 1881). 1868: Committee to enclose graveyard with a fence. 1885: Committee to “get and report whatever information they can in regard to graveyard and land said to belong to Friends and located near William Wiley’s in Guilford County.” 1891: “Trotter’s Creek property consists of 1 ½ acres with about ¼ acre in the graveyard. All but the graveyard was sold for $15.00 with an agreement with the buyer and his heirs and assignees ‘to bind themselves to keep the graveyard enclosed.’” (PA)
